The horse is a bay gelding, born in 1996, from the stallion Be My Native and the dam Monumental Gesture.
The owner was Mrs. John Magnier, the trainer Jonjo O'Neill and the breeder was Mrs. Frances Whelan.
The horse was ridden on a number of occasions by Mrs. Magnier's son, J.P. Magnier, and won 10 races between February 2002 and April 2004 and on five of these occasions was ridden by J.P. Magnier, who rode as an amateur rather than as a professional.
Rhinestone Cowboy won at most of the major tracks in the U.K. and Ireland, including Ascot, Cheltenham, Newbury, Haydock, Sandown, Aintree and Punchestown.
The horse was named after the legendary song "Rhinestone Cowboy", so closely associated with the singer, Glen Campbell.
